"Erlewine’s songs, with Bathgate’s production, evoke the earthy hum and autumnal chill of northern Michigan’s pastoral wooded areas and farmland. All set to strolling, or drifting tempos, meditative pedal steel guitars warble in slowly over minimal percussive taps and the quiet boom of a bass; Erlewine’s acoustic guitar and lilting, songbird vocals are the warm, glowing heartbeat of the album, but it is curtained by the occasional ambient rumble of Bathgate’s furtive electric guitar, which isn’t adding a melody as much as it’s poignantly varying it’s growl to fit the mood of each song. The end result is a refreshingly indiscernible middle ground between what you’d imagine as traditional folk songs, with ambient-rock and neo-Americana." -Jeff Milo

lyrics

Oh how your heart has wings
Yet you've gone and let sorrow be your
Pretty little keep
You want to fly in this life
Across the sky
You'll have to let her go, you know
Softly as she weeps

Oh how your mind creates
Yet you've let each storyline grow
Wild within your gate
You want to see in this life
Beyond the blind
A simple mad design take hold
Clear across your fate

Oh how your words align
Yet you burn them in resistance
As you cast them over time
Oh to be heard in this life
To see all sides
You'll have to listen close to those
Who speak with love in kind

Oh how your eyes reflect
Yet they go out masquerading
So that no one will suspect
You want a view in this life
To stop all time
You'll have stay awake to shake
To pain that's on your mind

Oh how your love runs deep
Yet you comb these shallow pools within
Where grief won't let you be
You want to feel in this life
Your heart alight
You'll have to reach out through the blue
Colors that you bleed

Oh how your heart has wings
Oh how your mind creates
Oh how your words align
Oh how your eyes reflect
Oh how your love
Runs
